CBS News countered former President Trump's assertion that "60 Minutes" misleadingly edited its interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling the claim as "false" in a statement issued on Sunday.
After weeks of silence amid growing criticism over the interview, CBS released a statement addressing the backlash following the airing of two different responses to the same question in the October 7 "60 Minutes" segment with the Democratic nominee.
“Former President Donald Trump is accusing '60 Minutes' of deceitful editing in our interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. That is false,” the statement read.
“'60 Minutes' shared an excerpt of our interview with ‘Face the Nation’ that included a longer portion of her answer compared to what was aired on '60 Minutes.' It was the same question and the same answer, but a different part of the response. When we edit interviews—whether with politicians, athletes, or movie stars—we aim to be clear, accurate, and focused. The portion of her answer shown on '60 Minutes' was more concise, allowing time for other topics in a wide-ranging 21-minute segment.”
